淼淼除夕——一则传说(短篇)

Master’s Eve. (short story)

I was picturing a sanatorium on a wide river at the edge of a small town. Actually, the sanatorium looked more like a prison and sentry post from the air. Then I wrote a story about a man 淼淼 who maintained discipline in the sanatorium altruistically and forcefully. Once as a security guard in the town, he experienced a series of misfortunes in his private life and lost his memories, but he continued consolidating his guard identity in this isolated place. He, along with the image of the building, represents my idea that such an alienated existence with personal trauma could be highly solicitous and, at the same time, authoritarian and dictatorial towards society and individuals. Throughout the story, I tried to maintain a calm and restrained tone of a bystander.
